Pangea liaises with the site planner, shutdown coordinator or responsible engineer to understand the job and the controls that apply. The aim is to arrive with the crew accepted, the work understood and the foreseeable access or equipment needs already raised.

Suitably qualified cover for the work
Competence is planned at crew level
We use our skills matrix to check the qualifications, certifications and practical capabilities available in the proposed crew. The planned team must include suitably qualified people for the activities in scope, including specialist tasks such as confined-space work or lifting operations where those activities are required.
We also aim for a useful spread of skills across the crew. Any extra work is still checked against competence, equipment, time, RAMS and permit requirements before it is accepted.
Working through the client's permit system
The site controls the system. Pangea checks and works within it
On most operating sites, the client controls permits, isolations and the release of equipment. Pangea does not replace that system. Our role is to understand the handover, check the information against the physical equipment and follow the site's arrangements before our people start work.
- Check the equipment identity and stated isolation boundary
- Cross-reference valve, lock and isolation information
- Check relevant drains, valves and electrical isolation points
- Consider stored mechanical, electrical or process energy
- Apply personal or contractor locks where required by the site system
- Stop and raise the issue if the physical condition does not match the handover
Check the handover, not just the paperwork

A signed permit or isolation record is an essential control, but the people accepting the job still need to make sure it makes sense at the equipment. Pangea checks that the kit appears safely presented for the work we have been asked to carry out and raises anything that is unclear before proceeding.
This is part of being self-managed. It gives the client's responsible team another practical check at the point where the work changes hands.
One lead for site coordination
Keep safety, progress and technical decisions on a clear line
The Pangea lead engineer is the principal interface with the client. They coordinate the crew, maintain awareness of the agreed scope and provide a clear route for progress updates, unexpected findings, additional-work requests and handback.
This helps the site integrate Pangea into a wider shutdown without having to manage every individual on the crew.
Mechanical completion and return to service
Make the condition of the equipment clear before control passes back
At completion, Pangea confirms the mechanical work carried out, any outstanding concerns and the status of the agreed checks. Testing, commissioning and re-energisation interfaces are agreed with the responsible site team, including who controls each stage.
Where it forms part of the package, Pangea can support testing and remain available while equipment returns to operation. The handback record is matched to the work and can include parts used, measurements, findings and actions that remain open.
Clear responsibilities make safer work
Before the job begins, we establish what Pangea owns, what remains under client control and where other specialists need to be involved. If the scope changes, that responsibility split is reviewed rather than assumed.
